A brief outburst of grumpiness follows. You’ve been warned.
Dumb down, gross out and here’s your public culture–a cooling pile of steaming poo. Crotch shot comedy, buttcrack humor. These are what pass for wit. This braying ass “Borat” is a sign of total mindwash, that levels class distinctions by making everyone crude.
We are all Borat now.

The New Year is approaching. It will bring a continued bitter reality of strife and disunion at home, fear and enmity abroad, and too many drastic extremes of nature and human absurdity.
What can we do to turn things around, to settle into the traces together and pull things out of the deep mire? How should we respond to rescue our national future?
As a people, we are not prepared for hardship. Despite a great deal of clamor, we do not have what it will take to prevail against a relentless enemy already millions strong. If you are shocked, or offended at that bald statement, you have just proven the point.
We seem to just tune out these masses of angry young men burning with rage, hurling curses. Totally immersed in salacious humor and arousing fantasies from a cornucopia of media offerings, just channel surfing while restless legions enroll in the jihadist fronts worldwide.
How arrogant and idiotic, how cavalier we seem, as our entire way of life is now at risk. We just love celebrities, especially those who deploy their wit and talent exclusively against our own. Craven and smug, we the public place no boundary on gleeful ridicule of anything American, our traditions, our values, our history, our motives and aims.
Unforgivably, journalism panders to the distorted censorship of our enemies, doing nothing to build unity or confidence among us. Incapable of responding to feedback, these corrosive gatekeepers respond with attack and rationalization. They cannot reform or face up to their lapses.
The media machine brays at top volume, relentlessly blaring every strategic detail, ginning up hostility and exacerbating every policy dispute, every gaffe. We are indifferent to officials and politicos who pilfer and blazon vital strategic information, and we refuse to sanction or even shun these quislings. Americans behave as if engaged in a smug little game, unaware that the game is Russian Roulette.
Revolutionary violence flares in street rampages, brutal jihad is organized for urban guerilla warfare and terror campaigns. Hot zones erupt across continents, boiling over in Paris, Baghdad, Gaza, Beirut, into Asia the Balkans. The actors have confidence, clear knowledge of the goal and no hesitation as to their rightness in the cause of decapitating Western democracy. They are completing the deconstruction of our culture and we cannot admit to this reality.
Many, perhaps some of the best among us, remain sluggishly mired in 20th Century modes of response. The situation is dire. Our choices narrow to the point of ending all choice. We have come to the place of fight, surrender, or die, with all outcomes involving sacrifice and heartbreak.
There is no peace process now save the peace of the grave. Only death awaits. We will see the final defeat of the jihadist revolutionary movement. More likely, we will see the ruin of moderate regimes and the end of civilized life wherever the fires of global jihad are unleashed in this war against the modern world.
Do you feel ready to lay down your life for liberty today, or even to stand up for what is good in our country? And yet, do you find that it is remarkably difficult to name the mortal threat that we face, to call things as they are, not as we wish they were? Do you believe that some change in our tone, some diplomatic compromise, concessions or favorable terms could be brokered to the irate and determined army of killers? Surrender this vain fantasy.
In clear language and in ruthless action our enemy has said they are not seeking to gain something from us. They are at war because they want us dead. They want to tear down our borders, reach us where we live and drive a stake through our hearts. Their dream is to raise the black flag above our cities and towns.
What part of “Death to America” have you failed to understand?
“Evangelicals need to evolve,” says Pastor Ken J. Wilson, of Ann Arbor, Michigan in an opinion piece published in the Ann Arbor News daily paper (Sunday, October 8, 2006). The fractious insurgency against teaching evolution in government schools continues to wax and wane, as it has since the Scopes trial.
Like the majority of citizens, Pastor Wilson is a moderate on this issue who finds no real threat to his religious beliefs in the evolutionary mechanism. He observes that efforts to counter the teaching of evolution provoke dislike, therefore Christians should end the campaign for intelligent design as a viable theory to explain the origin of species.
The battle of Christians against Darwin’s Theory of Evolution always seemed to me a waste of energy, just foolishness. And yet, one finds this opinion piece actually somewhat repugnant. The Theory of Evangelical Evolution as outlined requires that Christians evolve by surrendering a few rights.
“The gospel advances most when Christians are willing to yield their rights rather than assert them,” he claims. He believes it would be best for Christians to evolve beyond the culture war, starting with this foolishness about intelligent design. Highly evolved Christians will cease to speak and act in the great contest of ideas that shape reality in a democratic society. Encysted within carefully crafted pleas for conciliation is the tubercle of surrender.
The Theory of Evangelical Evolution strips down the gospel to action for social justice. No one can argue with feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, works that exemplify the Golden Rule. Animated by love of God, such works are an unwritten gospel. However, when animated by love of good opinion, moved by fear of looking foolish, these works are just a churchy bid for the world’s approval. Christ does not call us to evolve into a less reviled species. The Great Commission was not to avoid controversy, keep quiet and recruit social workers of all nations.
The Theory of Evangelical Evolution assures us that retreat will yield no negative consequences. We must evolve and yield our rights, and cease to be an irritant to the world. Yes, it seems that a lamprey has attached itself to the Jesus Fish. If we follow such counsel, we can quickly begin to enjoy the kind of role assigned to Christians in Iran, China, North Korea.
The inevitable third and fourth phases in this evolutionary process will be the acceleration of habitat loss and isolation for Christians, followed of course by the final phasing out of all visibility and influence. Evangelical Evolution is self-selection for extinction, as value after value, tenet after tenet, is marginalized, deemed unfit, selected out of the great living mainstream and declared to be mere foolishness.
The least foolish tenet of Christian foolishness is the intelligent design of a created natural world. Nature is the most eloquent universal unwritten gospel. Maybe that reality explains why we still contend in behalf of the Creator, the Intelligence behind the great design, that One before whom we all must stand to give an account of our folly.

Nice action adventure film, unusual for a positive portrayal of religious belief as integral to life, a desirable attribute
